On behalf of our team at Whistle Bear Golf Club, we are pleased to announce the appointment of Cory Southon as our new Head Teaching Professional.
Cory Southon joined the PGA of Canada in 2011 and has spent the past seven years working alongside Golf Magazine Top 100 Teacher Henry Brunton at his academies in Toronto and Orlando, Florida. Henry is one of the world’s leading golf coaches and educators and has mentored Cory during his development. During his time with Henry, Cory was the Lead Coach for the award-winning Henry Brunton Golf New Competitive Golfer Program and Junior Development Programs. In addition, he played an integral coaching role with the Strive for Excellence player development program, including elite training camps conducted in Florida.
To say that Cory is an outstanding player is an understatement! He was a finishing medalist at the 2011 PGA of Canada Apprentice Qualifying Tournament and has posted many other strong amateur and professional results. Cory combines his love and passion for playing the game with helping others improve and succeed. He excels in ongoing professional development and specialized training. In addition to completing his PGA of Canada training, he has earned certifications with US Kids Golf, Club Fittings, TrackMan and the Certified Golf Coaches Association. Cory is a Provincial and National award winner with the PGA of Canada, most recently winning the Moe Norman Award in 2015.
